Cristof and Lane are both leaving Hosannas to pursue their own music(s). Richard and Brandon are going to continue playing shows as Hosannas. It has been more than fun and we are all still friends. There are no plans to replace them, instead the music is going to change a bit…
Then & Now & Then is Hosannas’ new full length release comprising of two self-released ep’s and four never before heard tracks! It is being lovingly released by the amazing Portland label Hush Records which is home to The Decemberists, Laura Gibson and much more! You can pre-order a copy now at www.hushrecords.com or order it at your local record store on tuesday. We’ll also be doing a very special release performance on sunday at Mississippi Studios in Portland with Tu Fawning and Ah Holly Fam’ly! We’ll have some new tricks up our sleeve and the show is only 6 dollars so we hope to see all of our Portland friends there. We’ll, of course, follow it up with another month of touring in support of the release. We also now have the second edition of Song Force Crystal available now at www.tenderlovingempire.com if anyone doesn’t have the first!
We are so excited to fly out to the East coast and play some killer shows with our friends, Hermit Thrushes! Dates are here and on our myspace. We’re playing a rad fest called campus chaos in Norfolk with No Age, Ra Ra Riot, and Maps and Atlases so let your Virginia friends know. Then we’ll be back in Portland to release “Then & Now & Then” on May 9th at Mississippi Studios which will be followed by a month long tour.
There is much excitement here as we prepare to release one album and record another set to be released in fall. Last week we recorded basic tracks at Type Foundry in Portland, OR with John Askew (The Dodos, Tu Fawning). And now we have moved in to Scenic Burrows for overdubs and mixing. Thus far we have incorporated so many more synths and acoustic instruments then we ever have before. Check out our vimeo page for a peak or two at our recording process…
H: We practice six days a week. We are very devoted.
Where do you practice, in a fancy down town studio?
H: In Richard’s van.
I can look this up, but how many albums do you guys have out?
H: It’s kind of tricky actually. We only have one full-length album out but we self released two EPs, but both EPs are going to be put together and that’s going to be our HUSH records album and some songs that we had recorded and never really done anything with so that’s getting released really soon.
I dont know, I used to like buying EP’s but any more…
H: yeah we were talking to a bunch of labels and they all want full-length albums. People don’t typically buy music much more anyway. I think they at least want something that has a package with all the songs in it.
I have a question for some of you non participant band members in the corner…Do you remember what your first record that was given to you was, I mean people want to know this stuff right?
Lane: Uh, can it be a C.D?… Bobby Brown.
Brandon: I don’t remember a record but I did have a Micheal W. Smith collection, I had like four of them.
